ISO 9001:2009 recertification with zero findings

HMI Quality Management System is registered to ISO 9001:2008 by ISO registrar Perry Johnson. The scope of HMI registration includes the development, manufacturing, sales, service, and support for metal fabrication.

HMI was first registered to ISO 9001 on March 11, 2010 and has received regular surveillance audits to maintain certification since then. In January of 2013, HMI achieved re-certification to ISO 9001:2008 with zero findings. This achievement again demonstrates HMI’s continued commitment to quality.

Annual ISO Surveillance Audit Passed

HMI received notification of successfully passing the annual ISO Surveillance Audit. Since first earning recognition as ISO 9001:2008 certification on March 11, 2010, they have consistently maintained this status. Scott Bandas, V.P. Health, Safety, Quality & Environment, oversees the ISO 9001:2008 certification and explains the benefit of associated with this accomplishment.

HMI has consistent, repeatable processes and a common system throughout the plant. HMI personnel know what to do and how it should be done. We are made aware of problem earlier on and have systematic methods in place to quickly address. We have noticed fewer problems in regard to non-conformance reaching our customer. Having ISO 9001 certification has opened new market opportunities not previously available.

Preparing for the 60 Year Anniversary Milestone

A noteworthy milestone for Hutchinson Manufacturing is approaching. In less than a year HMI will proudly reach their 60 year anniversary. The aerial photo displays the company’s size today operating in 100,000 square feet and 10 acres of property along State Highway 15 in Hutchinson, Minnesota.

A committee has been formed to plan out various events in recognition of HMI’s 60th Anniversary celebration.

HMI earns CWB Certification

The Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) acknowledged Hutchinson Manufacturing (HMI) for achieving Certification to CSA Standard W47.1. This certifies HMI for fusion welding of steel which supports the manufacturing of oil and gas equipment for the Canadian market.

The Canadian Welding Bureau is accredited by the Standards Council of Canada.

Expanding 2nd Shift

HMI has openings on the 2nd shift for machinists and welders. This shift operates from 2:30 pm to 1 am on a 4-10 hour day schedule with 3-day weekends. Fill out a job application to be considered for employment with our company.

Jet Engine Test Stand Going to Paris

HMI has just completed the first of four Jet Engine Test Stands for a major European airline. These stands will be located at Charles De Gaul Airport in Paris and be used for maintenance operations and the re-certification of engines. Shown here the unit is to be load tested to certify the lift capability. HMI played a vital role in the design for economical manufacturability of weld joints and machining.

Working on Canadian Welding Bureau CSA W47.1 Division II cert

Hutchinson Manufacturing is well under way in the pursuit of adding weld certification to the Canadian Welding Bureau CSA W47.1 Division II and has engaged in an agreement with R.W. Little & Associates for professional weld engineering services.

We are on schedule for certification in late December. The initial purpose is for HMI to provide energy related product to the Labrador area in eastern Canada.

Expanding CNC Horizontal Milling Capabilities

Hutchinson Manufacturing has purchased a new Milltronics HBM4 CNC Horizontal Milling Machine. The HBM4 is a heavy duty and highly accurate table type machine with cutting envelope dimensions of x= 86”, y= 63, Z=61, w= 20. This machine will be on line mid December of this year.

Energy Panels for Devon Performing Arts

Hutchinson Manufacturing (HMI) will be producing the exterior panels for the construction of the new Devon Energy Performing Arts Auditorium in Oklahoma City. The architect for this project has used HMI’s services similarly on a previous building design.
